DIY Part 2 : Polish Signal Lens & Adding Reflectors.

This is how the car looks without the tail lights, sila abaikan payung and rod hitam tu. Removing the bulb holder from the whole tail lights is quite an easy task because everything is sealed using screws, nut and rubber because Other oldschool car's their tail lights are sealed using silicone or glue.

Start by removing the bulb holder and the lenses and begin cleaning process, I'm using a used tooth brush to clean the narrow area, I dont wanna miss any spot because the next time im doing this DIY thing is gonna be another 20 years from now. LOL

Done polishing and spraying chrome paint to the bulb holder, I'm using hair dryer for quick drying at the narrow spots, its raining while I'm doing this theres no sunlight to dry it.

the rubber between the tail lights and the body has already worn out, so this is 1 of the reason why my rear boot become wet when heavy rains. so I sealed the space using a silicone, at least this will stop water from entering my boot.

now my kambing's tail light is much much brigher than before ! hehe

DIY Part 1 : Polish Signal Lens & Adding Reflectors.

The long awaited semester break has finally come ! so while waiting for my part time job response I've read through one thread on olskool.org it was about cleaning and polishing lenses.

Jadi... apa tunggu lagi, I started taking all the lamps and lenses out around 5 pm I know its already late tapi takpe lah buat je.

then start cuci lenses and bulb holder

While waiting for the lenses to dry, I start working on the bulb holder, clean it and dry it thoroughly before applying chrome spray on it, so the chrome will act as a reflector which will create a brighter surface that will reflect the bulb's light.

After that I start working on polishing the lenses, Meet the Super Duper Polishing Machine LOL (You can blame rossobloggy for the name of the polish machine). Credits to Rossobloggy/Amar because I took the idea from his blog hehe.

Im using brake fluid (minyak brek) for my polishing agent, actually there is a lens polish liquid sold in hardware store but I was out of budget so break fluid is an alternative to lens polish. Caution, brake fluid is really sharp and can irritate skin.

After polish ! hehe

Nampak nya tak sempat siap polish and clean sume lens today. so kena continue tomorrow. sbb hari dah gelap. hm

DCNF 40 go !

I talked to my old man, I told him about weber, and he dsnt ask much.

me : ayah ada nampak tak ada besi kat dlm plastik putih atas tangga kt rumah?
my old man : ada ada. ha kenapa dengan besi tu? tu besi ape?
me : err tuu kaburetor baru. amer beli.
my old man : laa... bnyk duit beli berapa harga? nak letak tu dlm kete ke?
me : 250 je(padahal tipu)... a'ah nak pasang kt dlm kete. kos pasang sama je dengan kos nak service carb.
my old man : laa buat habih duit je... hmm kalau cmtu takpe lah. nnti bawak kete balik kita pasang.

hahahaha ! maka dengan ini weber dcnf la jwpan nye ! :P

Aisan-manufactured stock carb or Weber DCNF40?

the main problem that the car wont rev more than 3k is, my carb needed to be service to clear out unwanted dirt in it. so takpe lah I'm happy to hear that from my foreman coz its a thing that will not cost much to fix ! haha

okay now the second problem, few month back I've bought Weber DCNF40 carbs which is a very powerful carb, but if i want to fit it on my 4k engine I need to modify the intake manifold. Cost for modifying intake manifold is almost the same as servicing my Aisan carb.

aiyaa macam mana niii... zzzz

Kurang bernasib baik.

After few hours of regaining my Kambing, I continue doing my Assignments and stuff and later on at night I went to cruising on it, and suddenly I hear something snapped in under the hood, and I heard whipping sound ( macam bunyi benda getah melibas ) I stop the car and pop the hood, and there goes my belting. =.= (duit laggiiii Hampeh!) Actually I'm very lucky that the belting that snaps is the air-cond belt. So takpe lah, I drive home slowly. Nasib baik la the belting snaps tak kena radiator fan. kalau tak nak beli kipas baru lagi...

so the next morning after presentation I went to nearest sparepart shop, and buy new belt. and it fit just nice. so takpe lah 1 problem solved. then on my way home my radio is not working. I do some troubleshooting with my friend but we cant figure out whats the problem. The power is there but the radio wont work.

Malas dah nak check2, I took the car to accessory shop and the guy just flip2 something and walla the radio work. ( hampeh punya radio) and the guy charge me RM10 for just a stupid check! WTF !? takpe lah nak tak nak bayar jugak. kalau taknak bayar jgn pegi betul tak.

Afterthat went straight home and I wanted to close my car window and my window regulator pulak not working ! !~@#$%^&*()_ betul. haih so I took the thing out and do some cleaning WD40, pressure air gun and stuff still not working. The day started to get dark, I ran to the closest halfcut shop but they didnt have anything like it. I went to sparepart shop the tauke is trying to kill me by placing the price on the thing. gila punya tauke.

Long story short i didn't buy the window regulator, and when I reach home i cover up my driver door with plastic and I took the radio out incase someone wanted to steal something in my car. haih sedih nya. baru berapa jam of kambing repossession dah jadi macam ni.

later that night it started to rain. nasibbaik la I did cover the door with plastic. kalau tak confirm boleh bela ikan dlm kereta tu... haih.

can you imagine all 3 problems in 1 day. its like MILO 3-in-1 punya air tu. Banyak betul la cabaran dugaan membela kambing ni.. sobs.

so i guess i call it a day.

KL - Penang

After raya break I need to get back to Penang so I wanted to take my ToyoPet with me coz I thought it would be much easier to find parts here in the northern region. I went to fetch my friends in Klang and we continue our journey to Penang *I still haven't fix the brake problem*. It was a smooth ride, until the day started to get dark and I switch on the headlights my cockpit lamp is not working. If cockpit lamp is not working meaning my tail lights is also not working. I notice that my fuse got fried, and I stop and replace new fuse but the new 1 got fried too and I'm running out of new fuse =.=" so takpe lah, I just continue on. Actually its very dangerous driving in the night without a tail light, someone could just hit you on the rear (elehh macam la kete lain sume laju sngt nak kejar kete aku dr blakang) hahaha *perasan kete laju, padahal kete lembab je*.

Alhamdullilah, We reached Penang safely and everything went well despite the tail lamp not working.

So the next week I send my car Abang Sharm's workshop for wiring troubleshooting, so i have to leave the car there for nearly a month, the foremen found out that the whole distributor box has fried and causing short circuits which also fried my fuses each time i change a new one.

The foreman replaced the old wiring with the new one and it costs me alot (pokkaiii suda), after that he continue on troubleshooting and my alternator got fried too. (kena tambah duit lagii....sayang kereta punya pasal. sobs) so i change my alternator too !

long story short, the car is done undergoing wiring repairs and I hope that it will never happen again. I went to pickup my kambing today around 4:00 PM and I'm very happy to have it back. ILY AAY 5909.

no helmets, no pads , NO BRAKES just bail.

after few weeks the car is sleeping under my porch, it was on hari raya break i went for brakeservo hunting and i bought 1 from a friend from an online forum he claimed that its still working in good condition when he replace it with new 1 into his car, then the next day i went to install the new brake servo but it dsnt work as it should.so i call the seller and lucky me he agrees to return give me refund for the item. thankyou. so i re-install the old break servo. few days past it was the 3rd hari raya and i decided to go home take my starlet and just bail driving it without proper brakes to ipoh, cause ipoh is very well known for cheap parts and good workmanship. i left my car in a friends workshop for few days and i go for parts hunting, unfortunately i dont hv my camera with me that time, i found so many rare items on that half-cut shop. so i bought a used brake servo and install it immediately and it is working. yay ! and so i drove my car back to KL and i was very happy. not very happy im still upset about the car wont rev more than 3k. haish.

Weber DCNF 40. nyum !

long story short after I tested the car it turn out not as I expected to be. but never mind I'm sure there are solution to engine cant rev problem.

just a few weeks before Ramadhan, I saw an ad on olskool.org forum there is someone wanted to sell his Weber DCNF 40 carbs for a veryy cheapppp price !
At first i wasn't thinking of buying it because i was saving my money for something else but, when Lee (bukan nama sebenar) saw the ads he call me and convince me to buy it because its impossible to get a DCNF 40 with the price that he was offering. so without any 2nd thought I went to see the owner and i bought it.

but then after a bought the carb, there's new problem.. (biasa la kereta buruk mesti bnyk problem) my master brake pump / brake servo is not working, I mean it is working but its not working as well as it should, brake problem is something that I will not tolerate because brake is the most important part of any vehicles and it is very dangerous driving in congested road without a good brake.

I called few foreman to help me find used or new parts, too bad there is only used parts left so takape lah used pun janji boleh pakai. but then when the parts is install its not working well either. so i bought another one, same problem again. and its still not working hampeh betul !

for the time being the car sleeps under the porch again.... till i can find new/working brakeservo for my kambing. haish.

1st run on after General OH !

Its been a while since my last post, I haven't get the chance to write it all.
this post should be dated around 5 aug - 11 aug.

after few hundreds KMs run after OH i decided to rev the good ol' 4k engine to its limit...

akan tetapii.... ku sangka panas sampai ke petanngg rupa2 nya hujan di tengah harii....

the engine is having a very hard time to rev till 3k rpm (WTF!). this should not happen in the first place because the engine have new line of pistons, pistonrings, valve and nice clean head.

i was quite disappointed but i didn't went back to the workshop who did the OH work.
according to the pros/elders they said that this maybe caused by bad condition of carburetor or it hasn't been tuned correctly according to the new condition of the engine.

so i just let the car be that way, till i have the time to send its carb for servicing and re-tune the engine.

Warded.

Ive send my ToyoPet to a workshop in meru klang (Racing Hart Garage, RHG) for general overhauling job. I left my house around 2PM and I was surprised that the road was clear (not really, but it wasn't pack with cars like it used to during the day) and its a good thing.

while i was driving i noticed that my speedometer is dead and only left me with my RPM meter. it was not a big deal, but it feels boring driving without seeing pair of arrows going up and down, and i don't know what speed at im moving.

since i dont know how fast i was going i was driving on 5th gear with 4.5k RPM on Federal Highway and i still have lots of throttle, but i didnt floor it due to the car's condition that isnt so good. i think 5th gear with 4.5k RPM is very fast and its very dangerous and the car was very wavy. actually getting to 4.5k RPM on 5th gear is very good for a 20 years old engine.

when i reached bukit raja the rain starts to pour down and im glad it did because i feel like im sitting inside an oven and i was sweating like a pig. Malaysia is very very hot nowadays.

it was a short journey from bukit raja to meru, i waited for the mechanic at the workshop and i have abit talk about what im planning on my ToyoPet and he understand the problems that i told him about this car.

i feel kinda sad when i handed the key to the mechanic. ByeBye beloved goat, see you in 1 week, or mayb few days :P

Obstacle aint gonna bring me down.

I called the workshop that I agreed to send my car for engine overhaul to inform the mechanic that I'm gonna send my ToyoPet today but, unfortunately the mechanic says his workshop is full so i need to wait about a week till the workshop had space to place my ToyoPet, sigh. Still, obstacle aint gonna bring me down I'll wait :D

Introductionary.

KP61 was the second generation of toyota starlet KP series. KP61 is powered by 4k 1.3L engine with K50 5 speed transmission. The KP series was first introduced in 1978 and i think im gonna cut the crap of telling the history of this KP series.

hi, i own a 1984 toyota starlet KP61 inherited/bought from my dad.
at first i dont really like the car that much until i took apart the interior piece by piece to do some DIY wiring job on it i found out this car has an FR layout! actually we can tell its an FR or FF by just looking at he engine position right, wht do you expect? im a noob and i hv lot to learn about this 4 wheeled thing.

after i found out it was a FR layout vehicle i decided to take it for a SPIN.. ahaha and i did do it. i succeeded doing some slides and i wouldnt call it a drift because i got no apex and i cant keep it at the same angle and it also wont rev higher than 5K rpm (due to the worn out 25 years old engine).

KP61 is not as good looking as honda civic type R or anything close to that, its a very old car and it has a class of its own and its better looking than most of your dates im very sure of that.
here is an early picture of my KP61 when i inherit it from my dad.

and now it is much better looking, and it need a serious body work on it.

after doing some google-ing on i found few local forums that support and they discuss about KP61 and all sorts of old-skool cars, this will help me on my project of restoring and maintaining my KP61.

every restoration process on my KP i'll upload on this blog.
and i really wanted to make it to look almost like this 1 :D
